PHOTONEWS: Abuja Explosion Update: 21 Dead, 17 Injured, Over 20 Vehicles Burnt


The Police Public Relations Officer, ACP Frank Mba, said twenty-one people have been confirmed dead while seventeen others injured from the explosion that hit Emmab shopping complex, Abuja around 3:55pm today."Twenty-one people are dead, seventeen are injured while over 17 vehicles of different model were burnt. The injured have been taken to hospitals in the city," he said.
According to an eye witness, the bomber stopped at the Plaza gate while on a motorbike and threw the explosive before bolting away in speed.
Presently, our reporter at the scene has counted about ten body-bags being evacuated to nearby hospitals by Emergency workers.
He reports that scores of injured victims are also being attended to while several others are being taken to hospitals across the federal capital city.
EARLIER... An explosion has just occurred near a popular business/shopping complex in Abuja.
According to reports coming in from residents nearby, the explosion occurred few minutes ago around Emmab Plaza area, in Wuse II, Abuja.
Smokes from the scene can be seen from miles away around the city centre.
Eye witnesses say many people are feared dead and several injured, as many vehicles around the area explode in flames.
Meanwhile, security agents along side Emergency and Rescue workers have arrived the scene and cordonned off the area.
Emmab Plaza is a busy shopping mall, located on Aminu Kano Crescent, in the heart of Nigeria's capital city.
