Nigerian Media Mourn The Death Of A Social Activist Bamidele Aturu Who Died At 49

The death of prominent Human Rights activist, Lagos lawyer per excellence Barister  Bamidele Aturu has been announced and was received with rud shock and mix feeling that where lies the hope of a few speechless Nigerian as we morn the passing away of this Legal luminary
Barrister Aturu as he is fondly call among his pears came to prominence as a fighter against power abuses when, as a corp member in 1988, he refused to shake the hand of a military administrator of Niger State, Col. Lawan Gwadabe during his NYSC passing out parade. Barrister Bamidele had declared then that the military had caused great harm to the democratic aspirations of Nigerians that any sane society could ever imagine
The outstanding Lagos lawyer stood his ground  in defense of a Nigerian journalist who got an information about a one time gun runner merchant based in England who later converted to contest Anambra state governorship election in 2014, but provided legal backing that served as an arbiter to true and fearless information dissemination without fear of intimidation from the hands of indecent politicians.  
Mr. Aturu died today after a period of an undisclosed illness. He was 49 years old. May his soul rest in perfect peace.
