Security: Obiano commends Army, as COAS tours Anambra


Anambra State Governor, Chief Willie Obiano has  commended officers and men of  the Nigerian Army for its efforts in restoring security of lives and property in Anambra and all parts of the country.

 Governor Obiano while receiving the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt. Gen. Kenneth Minimah at the Governor’s House lodge, Awka in Anambra state attributed the peace and security the people of the state are currently enjoying to collaboration between the Nigerian Army and his administration and pledge to continuously support the army to do better.

The governor noted that the Nigerian Army had performed creditably well in the new joint security task force  “Operation Kpuchakpu. I want to thank the Nigerian Army authorities especially Col. Jubrin Fagge, Onitsha Cantonment commander to rid Anambra of hoodlums and other miscreants”

“And we have been recorded successes and notable arrest with the assistance of the Nigerian Army. This government would continue to support the army as well as praying for the army to be able to confront the challenge of terrorism. With God everything will be light and the country would surely triumph,’’ he said.

Earlier, the COAS, Lt. Gen. Kenneth Minimah said the courtesy call was part of activities for his familiarization visit to army formations in Onitsha, Anambra state and thanked the state government for its support to the Nigerian Army.

“I want to specially remark and mention your untiring assistance to the Nigerian Army especially in term of logistics and on the renewal of the barracks. And the other gesture I heard you still want to extend to us; we are grateful for this support for our combat readiness,’’ Minimah said.

Meanwhile, the army boss visited and toured sensitive areas and equipment of the 302 Artillery Regiment and 14 Field Engineer Regiment, both in Onitsha cantonment.

The Commander of the Cantonment and 302 Artillery Regiment, Col. Jubril Fagge, thanked the army boss for the visit; while assuring of the dedication of the officers and men of the cantonment.
