AMAECHI NOT INVOLVED IN ACCIDENT – RIVERS GOVT

The Rivers State Government has stated that Governor Rotimi Amaechi is not involved in any accident, as being insinuated.
The Rivers government, through the Commissioner for Information and Communications, Mrs. Ibim Semenitari, Friday in Port Harcourt, said the accident rumour was the product of mischief makers, evil harbingers and those who wished the state governor dead.
Amaechi, who is also the Chairman of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF), as at press time, was in his office at the Government House, Port Harcourt, attending to state matters.
Rivers government said: “We make haste to inform Rivers people that their governor is hale, hearty and ready to cast his ballot tomorrow (today), during the governorship and House of Assembly elections. The rumour is nothing but the handiwork of mischief makers and those who wish the governor ill, but unfortunately, they are not God.

“While the rumour was spreading like the harmattan wildfire, to the admiration of Amaechi’s foes, the governor was busy attending to state matters, including receiving some prominent members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), who defected from the party to the All Progressives Congress (APC).”
The Rivers government also assured the people of the state that Amaechi would be at his duty desk as governor, through the grace of God, until May 29 this year, when he would hand over to a new administration.
The government of Rivers state said: “We want to assure Rivers people that Governor Amaechi is committed to finishing very strong and through the grace of God, will remain at his desk until May 29, 2015, when he will hand-over to a new, democratically-elected administration.”
All concerned persons, who made inquiries about Amaechi’s condition were lauded for their care, describing them as great friends and would have nothing to worry about.
