NO RESCHEDULING OF POLLS IN LAGOS –REC •Final result to be announced by noon Sunday

The Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC), in Lagos, Akin Orebiyi, has said there will not be rescheduling of either the Governorship or House of Representatives elections in any voting unit in the state.
Speaking with newsmen at the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) office Saturday night, he stated emphatically that all voting in the state had ended.
Orebiyi, who spoke just before midnight on Saturday, said that all was then set for the collation of votes from the local government area, adding that the final results could be announced by midday on Sunday.
He applauded the performance of INEC during Saturday’s elections, which he described as wonderful.

Orebiyi disclosed that the commission performed better in Saturday’s elections than it did during the March 28 Presidential and National Assembly polls.
Giving further assessment of the elections in Lagos, he said that INEC staff arrived all the polling units on time.
He also said there was no failure of card readers as few cases of malfunctioning were fixed, adding that INEC did a wonderful job.
Orebiyi said there no loss of lives in the state as a result of the election, although he agreed that there were some “minor injuries” in few cases of fracas at polling units.
He also stated that there fewer cases of ballot box snatching and stealing of electoral materials, even as he thanked the security agencies for their effectiveness, which he said contributed to the huge success recorded in the elections.
