Tribunal Nullifies Nyeson Wike's Election As Governor of Rivers State


The Rivers State Election Petition Tribunal sitting in Abuja has nullified the election of Barrister  Nyesom Wike as the Governor of Rivers State.
The tribunal held in it judgment the petition of the appellate applicant, Honourable  Dakuku Peterside, who prayed that the state  election was marred with irregularities and in many local government  areas of the state did not witness  movement of polling materials, talk less of having elections conducted in the LGAs.

The tribunal, which delivered its ruling on Saturday, ordered for a fresh election to be conducted in all the local government areas in the state.
It would be recalled that the  petitioner Hnourable Dakuku Peterside had challenged the election of  Barrister Nyeson. Wike as the winner of the Rivers State governorship election and prayed that the tribunal should nullified his declaration, owing that there was no election and called for a fresh polls in the state.
The Rivers governorship election, which was criticised by local and international observers, witnessed the largest amount of violence both in its build-up and after the elections.
