Anambra Central Stakeholders Vow To Return Senator Ekwunife To Senate





Stakeholders in Anambra Central Senatorial zone have resolved to return Senator Uche Ekwunife to the Senate come February 2016 Re-Run Election.
They made the resolution yesterday  in Awka at a town all meeting organized by Senator Uche Ekwunife  as a mark to interact with the constituent on ways to champion effective representation of the senatorial district.

They condemned the December 6th, 2015 appeal court judgement in Enugu which  nullified the senator's election but expressed optimism that the collective will of the seven local government areas that made up Anambra central senatorial zone have resolved to repeat the March 28th. 2015 National Assembly elections that returned Senator Uche Ekwunife as the senator representing Anambr central district in the National Assembly.
The stackholders, comprising members of the People Democratic party, (PDP), factional members of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, (APGA), members of the All Progressive Congress, APC and ACCORD party embers.
They unanimously voted in support of the motion to endorse Senator Uche Ekwunife as their sole candidate in the January 9th PDP primaries before the major election.




In his word, the former Governor of Anambra state, Mr. Peter Obi charged the stakeholders to considier opportunities that may elude people of the zone, if the senator did not make it  back to the senate.
He outlined that, as Senate Chairman house committee on Petroleum Downstream,  which No Igbo man has  occupied, which Senator Ekwunife is currently holding, would be an added advantage to the people of Anambra and the entire south east at large".
He said: "I want to urge you people to set aside party affiliations on this matter but look at individuals involve in this race, I will always vouch for what Senator Ekwunife will offer.
He continued, "She has been their before and a ranking member of the National assembly, who will  by the virtue of her legislative experience and connections attract greater dividend of democracies to the people of the zone and Anambra state at large". He solicited.
All commenting, the former special adviser to president Goodluck Jonathn on Inter-Party Affairs, Senator Ben Obi, called on the people of Anambra Central zone not to allow undue sentiment to becloud the opportunity ahead of them.
Senator Obi gave a sign of warning to the people of the zone to always count on individual that place others before her project, being the symbol of a true leader.




" My submission is just to remind us where we were coming from, and to know where we are now, under six months that this woman became a senator, though had series of undue distractions from different court cases, but was still able to affix six indigent children into federal employments and construct roads and allocated opportunities for young ones to grow in their academic pursuit"
"My people of Anambra Central, Senator Uche Ekwunife remains the best caniddate for Anambra central in this dispensation and she should be supported to go back to the senate to complete the good works she has started in the senate.". He charged.
Responding on the support given to her by the stakeholders, Senator Uche Ekwunife urged the people of the zone to disregard rumour, being peddled against her by the APGA Candidate, Chief Victor Umeh, said there is no appeal court judgement barring her or any PDP candidate from contesting in the Febuary re0run election and appeal to them to remain focused and not be distracted by the antics.
She solicits for their support in the election and assured them to do more if returned to the senate. her Words: " I want to appeal to  all of you to be resolute in the support for Uche Ekwunife, because , politics has gone beyond, political  parties, but it speaks more about individuals and what such a person has being able to achieve in his..her previous assignment which will determined what he/she will offer in the future".




"I want to assure you as a senate chairman on Petroleum Downstream, I make bold to tell you that its an opportunity, not only for Anamabra Central Zone but for the entire south east and we should not trade such opportunity on the basis of party difference or sentiment".
" I am contesting the election to win with your support and am sure our denied mandate, By The Grace of God will be restored in the February Election".
The stakeholders meeting was the first since Senator Uche Ekwunife emerged as Senator representing Anambra Central Senatorial zone and had notable personalities in attendance, like the Immediate past  Governor of Anamrba state, Mr. Peter Obi, Former Special Adviser to President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan Senaotr Ben Obi, Former Speaker, Anambra state house of Assembly and member representing Awka North and South in the Federal House of Representatives, Rt/ Hon. Anayo Nebe, former Commissioner for Information Culture and Tourism in Anmabra state, Barrister Joe-Martins Uzodike and host of others.
