Anambra State has enough room to employ all Youths – Gov Obiano

Youth empowerment as a key enabler in the administration of Gov Willie Obiano of Anambra State has continued to receive boost ranging from job creation to set up of sporting activities to discover raw talents, keep the youths busy and drastically reduce juvenile delinquencies.


Speaking during the official opening of the just completed modern office block for the Ministry of Youth Entrepreneurship and Sports Development, Gov Obiano said the state has enough room to employ all the youths emphasizing that he is preparing the youths to be useful to themselves as “the employment opportunities in agricultural sector of the state leave no room for any youth to be idle”.

Gov Obiano also noted that youths who have graduated from vocational studies will be given seed money to enable them start off what they have learnt to better their lives.

The new office complex which houses 11 offices and a conference hall falls within the State Government’s strive to strengthen its strategies for effective engagement of youths.

Earlier in his welcome address, the Commissioner for Youth Entrepreneurship and Sports Development, Ogbuefi Tony Nnacheta, appreciated the governor for completing the long abandoned building and outlined other feats achieved by the Ministry under Gov Obiano to include the Anambra State Academicals; Local Government and Traders Cups; ongoing development of the Youth Centre; new gymnasium at Awka and provision of sporting facilities at Rojenny Sports Complex (Under PPP) amongst others.

Delivering the vote of thanks, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Youth Mobilization and Empowerment, Dr Onyeka Ibezim thanked Gov Obiano and the cheerful audience stating that the new structure will assist the Ministry in actualizing the big dream for Anambra youths.

The event featured cutting of tape; tour of the new offices and an entertaining display by the State Taekwondo team.

Present at the occasion were the Speaker of Anambra State House of Assembly, Rita Mmaduagwu and Honourable Members; Members of the State Executive Council; Senior Civil Servants; Youth Groups led by the National Youth Council of Nigeria; the Boys Scout and staff of the host Ministry.
