In bid to achieve sustainable successes recorded in the fight against insecurity and other social vices in Anambra state, the state commissioner of police, Mr. Hassan Karma has urged residents to report any event questionable, to security agencies nearest to them.

He solicits for cooperation between the people and the security agencies to enhance security safety that is currently being experienced in the state.
He stated this at the joint Anambra State security summit town hall meeting held in Awka, Anambra state capital, with the theme: security Awareness Dialogue, appealed to the people to imbibe the culture of security consciousness at all time to forestall emergencies.

“Governor Obiano
has been very proactive prior this time, he foresaw this and se up a committee comprising members
of the Fulani Herdsmen headed by the Seriki Fulani, Some Prominent Igwes, headed by the Igwe
of Aguleri and some security agencies that I am made the chairman of the
committee”.
“We have met
severally when there were some challenges where herdsmen had entered into some
farm lands, and their cow was found to have destroyed their crops and we have
been recording successes with this strategy since the inception of this administration”.
The Anambra
police scribe also reiterated the level of preparedness the state has been to
arrest insecurity situation and urged residents to avail the security agencies
with relevant information to work with in the bid to nip any insecurity
challenge arises from any cause in the state.
“following the
last incident in Ukpabi-Nimbo community
of sleepy small town in Uzo-Uwani LGA of Enugu state, we have quickly set up a task
force as we speak now, who have been deployed
to man the borders that leads to neighbouring states, thorugh Amansea, to the
North, Ayanmaelum Onitsha to the South, Uga, and other major entry points to be
able to efficiently man the entry and exit
of man and equipment in Anambra state”. He disclosed.
He urged visitors’
entry the state to be law abiding and eschew acts inimical to the health of the
state: If anyone is entering Anambra
state, in peace, he or she is welcome, but if you are coming to destroy people
crops and foment any crime, definitely you will be apprehended”.
“We hereby
called on the public to report anywhere they noticed any trouble maker they
discover immediately to the police”.
“I also want
to urge the people not to take laws into their hands, we should not be =quick
to conclude that every herdsman is a killer, if that is the issue, we will be missing

In their separate
remarks, the commandant of Anambra state National Drug Law Enforcement Agency
NDLEA. Mr. Sule Momodu and his Federal
Road Safety Counterpart FRSC, sector commander of the road safety corps, Mr.
Sunday Ajayi, enumerated achievements recorded under this administration and
assured of their willingness to provide adequate security of lives and
properties in Anambra state.
The town
hall meeting had in attendance, members of civil society organizations,
clergymen, market association representative, civil servants, principals and
heads of schools as well as artisans and business owners.
