Boys' & Girls' Brigade Nigeria Honours Obiano As Grand Patron

Anambra State Governor, Chief Willie Obiano and his wife, Ebelechukwu Obiano were today decorated as the Grand Patron and Grand Patroness of Boys' and Girls' Brigade Nigeria, Anambra Division in a special church service presided over by The Most Revd Dr Christian Efobi, Dean Church of Nigeria and Bishop of Aguata Diocese, at Cathedral Church of St Faith, Awka.

Speaking during the investiture which started with a ceremonial parade by the Brigade, Obiano said; "I have always admired the colour party" noting that "this particular award is the most special in all that I have received". Obiano further explained that his administration is focusing the youths towards "the values which our society desires" to prepare them for the ideal leadership.

Responding to a special request by the Brigade, Obiano donated the sum of N10m to enable them acquire some musical equipment. The Governor also directed that willing members of the Boys' and Girls' Brigade should be drafted into the numerous agricultural training programmes of the State Government for empowerment and effective engagement.

In his homily, Dr Alexander Ibezim, the Bishop of Awka, charged young Christians to live the teaching of the bible. Citing security, infrastructural transformation of Awka and other laudable achievements of Gov Obiano as examples of great dividends that God's people get "when a righteous man is on the throne", Bishop Ibezim urged the members of the Brigade to take the governor and his likes as role models.

Present at the occasion were the Chief of Staff to the Governor, Prof Joe Asike and other political appointees; the National Chairman of All Progressives Grand Alliance, Chief Victor Oye and many APGA faithful.
