Anambra state governor, Willie Obiano says the state government will sustain the fight against Hepatitis by providing improved vaccination for screening and immunization facilities throughout the 21 local government areas in the state
He promised to ensure earlier detection of related cases of preventable disease like Hepatitis are treated without recourse to operation at the flag off of the Hepatitis awareness campaign and offer free screening, subsidized vaccination and treatment opinion, in Awka.

The state governor represented by the state commissioner for health, Doctor Josephat Akabuike disclosed that the state government in its zeal to rid the state of some preventable killer diseases has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Roche Pharmaceutical to handle all the state project relating to immunization, screening and treatment of hepatitis disease at a subsidized rate
Health care providers say the project has been mapped out to identify people with chronic hepatitis B & C diseases which normally lead to devastating liver disease and cancer.
They urge residents to make themselves available to be tested to ascertain their status and says that the immunization exercise  is free, adding that  persons with chronic hepatitis disease would be treated at a subsidize rate.
Commending the initiative of the government, the residents of Awka South LGA extolled the state government for the free screening exercise and sues for its sustainability and asking that it gets to the grassroots.
The exercise would be replicated in the 21 local government areas of the state.
