Saraki loses again as Tribunal refuses to quash corruption charges

The Code of Conduct Tribunal has dismissed an application by the senate president, Bukola Saraki, for false asset declaration charges against him to be dropped.
Mr. Saraki’s lawyer, Kanu Agabi, had argued that the 13-count charge was invalid procedurally because the Code of Conduct Bureau which filed the charges, failed to allow Mr. Saraki explain discrepancies in his assets declaration forms as required by law.

Guard rapes eight-year-old in exchange for N10


The Lagos State Police Command has arrested a 33-year-old security man, Freedom Barryneh, for allegedly raping his neigbour’s daughter, aged eight.
The incident reportedly happened on Akali Street, in the Ajegunle area of Lagos State after the victim, Sandra (pseudonym), approached the suspect and requested N10 from him to buy biscuit.

PUNCH Metro learnt that after giving her the money, Barryneh, who was watching a pornographic film when the minor entered his apartment, persuaded her to stay with him.

Clean up of N-Delta oil spills to begin in three weeks —FG


The Federal Government, yesterday, said that it would commence the clean up of oil spills in the Niger Delta region starting from Ogoni land within the next three weeks. Special Adviser to the President on Niger Delta and Coordinator of the Presidential Amnesty Programme, Brig- General Paul Boroh (retd), made this known in Enugu, yesterday. Boroh spoke at the commissioning of the Skills Acquisition and Training in Automobile Technology and Manufacturing of Plastics by about 200 former Niger Delta agitators under the sustainable reintegration programme in the Presidential Amnesty initiative. AFRICAN BASKETBALL LEAGUE LAUNCHES MADE IN AFRICA PROJECT

The African Basketball League which officially tipped off on March 5th, 2016 in Lagos has gone a step further to launch a laudable project tagged ‘’Made in Africa Project’’.
This will include Made in Nigeria, Made in Gabon, Made in Senegal and Made in Abidjan. The aim is to showcase products made in indigenous franchise countries and help reinvigorate local markets and resources in an era of the diminishing commodities market.
