NYCN elects new officers in Anambra

History was made today, Tuesday, March 21, 2017 in Anambra State as its chapter of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) elected new executive members numbering 17 that would pilot its affairs in the state for the next four (4) years.

After a peaceful, but highly competitive contest, Nonso Smart Okafor emerged victorious as the Chairman of the Council in the state. He beat his rival, Chidiebele Obika with 83 votes against the latter's 33 votes. One of the chairmanship hopefuls, Obi Tagbo, for personal reason(s) dropped from the race.

This was coming one week after similar election was held in the 21 Local Government Areas of the state which produced Coordinators and their executive members.

It's worthy of note here that all the contestants in the election which took place at the Youth House were satisfied with the conduct, adjudging it as free, fair and transparent.

We sincerely thank the outgoing State Executive members ably led by Comrade Frank Maduka for their immense contributions to the growth and development of the council. They, undoubtedly, did their possible best to uplift the National Youth Council of Nigeria, Anambra State council.

We also thank other past leaders of the council, stakeholders and many others who, in one way or the other, contributed to the growth of the number 1 youth body in Nigeria.

We hope to improve on their legacies even as we establish ours. We are greatly banking on God's unfailing grace and approvals.

We also thank the members of the Electoral Commission ably led by Comrade Eze Golden Chukwuebuka Iloh as Chairman and Hon. Egwuatu Ejiofor (Mgbiligba) as Secretary; as well as the Congress Planning Committee (CPC) led by Barr Ralph Okeke as Chairman for a job well done.

Also worthy of acknowledgement is the Revalidation and Affiliation Committee chaired by Engr. Ifeanyichukwu Ike for their invaluable contribution to the success of the election.

Finally, we most sincerely thank the youths in Anambra State for handing us their mandate purely on trust. We will not fail you!

We call on all and sundry especially the youths in Anambra State to accord us their unwavering support to enable us deliver on our campaign promises.

Build the youths, build the nation.
