COOU Gets New Acting VC, Professor Gregory Nwakoby

The newly appointed Acting Vice Chancellor of Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University, COOU, Uli and Igbariam campuses, Anambra State, Prof. Gregory Chukwudi Nwakoby, has warned that on no account should the academic excellence and standard already institutionalised in the institution be compromised.

He noted that one way of maintaining the existing standards and possibly improving upon them is by ensuring that students who pass through the university are well groomed, with their certificates earned by sheer dint of hard work, while discipline remains the watchword of both the staff and students.
Nwakoby who spoke to newsmen yesterday in his office at Igbariam campus of the university shortly after he resumed work as the Acting VC, having just been appointed by Governor Willie Obiano of Anambra state to take over from the outgoing VC, Prof. Fidelis Okafor, said he would also work towards improving the existing facilities on ground.
According to him, “everybody here will get his or her lawful rights complete and I will expect everybody to reciprocate that gesture by being reasonable and focused in our collective march towards excellence.
“I know that disputes and differences are natural in comity of humans but such disputes must be reasonable enough and when they come, I will handle them as an expert in dialogue and crisis management.
“Governor Obiano has invested a lot of resources here but we want more facilities like faculty buildings, classrooms, hostels and more of such and my primary duty here is to ensure that the existing facilities on ground are improved upon, apart from maintaining quality standard of education and discipline,” he assured.
