Anambra Holds Seemingly Peaceful primaries With Pockets Of Crisis

Results from the constituencies in the House of Assembly Primary elections of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) which was held across Anambra State yesterday pointed to a near peaceful conduct of a political primaries  as results begin to trickle-in from the field.
Though, reports from Ekwusigo, Ekwulobia and Aguata LG primaries does not reflect what seems to be a peaceful conduct of a transparent election, where hundreds of youths and aged were carrying placard in protest of what they tagged as imposition on candidates and presentation of a different delegate list against the supposed list for the election.
Some Party stakeholders buoyed to contest the result in court, knowing well that they were disenfranchised by the new delegate list and were not able to cast their vote for the aspirants of their choice.

You are the APC’s godfather —Kashamu to Obasanjo

THE Chairman, Organisation and Mobilisation Committee, for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), South-West, Buruji Kashamu, has carpeted former President Olusegun Obasanjo for berating President Goodluck Jonathan over security and economic challenges confronting the country.
According to Kashamu, Obasanjo lacked the moral fibre to sermonize and pontificate on the issues of security and corruption in Nigeria, given that the former president’s legacies of “betrayal, delabilitating corruption, failed National Integrated Power project, decrepit infrastructure, bad governance and abuse of rule of law, among others, are everywhere.”
Kashamu also said Obasanjo, who sees “himself as the ultimate kingmaker; the Alpha and Omega of Nigeria’s politics whose word was law,” was “simply playing the card of the opposition, All Progressives Congress (APC), where a handful of his associates had defected to.”
According to him, Obasanjo was playing the role of an enemy within, while “pretending to be doing an honest assessment of the nation’s socio-economic issues. He is simply APC’s godfather.”

Anambra: who said that Obiano is ill-prepared to be Governor?

For some time now there have been sustained orchestrations of syndicated propaganda against the barely seven month-old administration of Chief Willie Obiano in Anambra State. The monotonous choruses on what the Governor has done and what he has failed to do fail to impress Ndi-Anambra for the simple reason that the people are proud witnesses of their Governor’s great achievements within the few months of his headship of the state. They are at peace with Governor Obiano’s drive to make huge success of his four pillar cardinal agenda in growing the state economy. They celebrate his propagation of mechanized agriculture with its spiral effects in job and wealth creation. Even the local farmers, in cooperative clusters, effectively access organized assistance from the State Government in the forms of improved seedlings, farm machines and updates in modern trends for better yields. Ndi-Anambra are jubilant over the increasing volume of investments in industries; they rejoice at the growth of the Oil and Gas sector of the state economy, and they are delighted with the tremendous improvement in trade and commerce. More importantly, the people proclaim ‘Eureka!’ in unison over the immediate effects of Chief Obiano’s war against criminality. Never before have Anambra citizens felt as free and safe as they do today. Indeed, Governor Obiano’s absolute commitment to developmental governance, evident in his 4Cs policy of continue, complete, commission and commence projects (inherited and new ones) lends him commendations not only from Ndi-Anambra but also from other people who have interest in the economy and politics of the state.

Yuletide: Obiano Tightens Security with Operation Sheba

After establishing himself firmly on top of the security scenario in Anambra State as the chief security officer of the state, Governor Willie Obiano has initiated a wave of new measures to deepen the security network in the state and give Ndi Anambra a chance at experiencing the first crime-free Christmas in decades. One of the new security measures that the governor has rolled out for a safer Anambra this Yuletide Season is Operation Sheba, a special, combat-ready, anti-crime police squad that was unveiled recently in Onitsha to give a new dimension to crime-fighting in Anambra State.

Made up of 150 elite officers and men of the Nigerian Police Force, Operation Sheba was introduced to give crime-bursting in Anambra State a new and biting edge. The squad is split into three units of 50 officers each, designated to 24 hours surveillance on each of the three senatorial districts of the state. Operation Sheba comes to provide more depth to the all-conquering Operation Kpochapu which is credited with wiping out criminals, especially kidnappers from Anambra State in less than two months of swinging into action. Operation Sheba’s strength lies in its high mobility and penetrating surveillance that covers virtually the length and breadth of Anambra State and its rapid response ability.
