Breaking News: Eke Awka Market Fire Incident Destroys Properties Worth Million of Naira

The busiest domestic market in Awka, Anambra state capital, popularly known as Eke Awka Market  has in part been gotten by fire in the early hour of Sunday, 29,June, 2014.
The fire incident which started between the hour of 1 -2 a.m today, was rumoured to have been ignited by a minor electric spark within the cloth sellers line before it later extended to other part of the market.
Though men of the Nigerian Police Force are now on ground to guard the goods and marked a strong restriction line where movement of goods and men would be quarantined by the member of the  force.
Eyewitnesses account revealed that properties worth Million of naira may have been lost to this unfortunate incident and call on the state government and the federal government to better equip the men of the fire service, to be more efficient in the discharge of their duties and assert prompt approach to any emergency situation that  will speed up their safety approach to emergency situation..
Some are also of the opinion that a sub fire station should be stationed near the market, compare to the number of citizens that make their living from the market as well as the revenue the market contributes to the development of the state
Some who confirmed the incident to Ashiwaju.org  were not able to ascertain the cause of the fire incident but called on Governor Willie Obiano to wade into the situation and provide a better business environment to the indigents citizens in the state.
As at the time of filling this report, men of the fire service are yet to arrive, while individual efforts are being asserted to ensure the fire outbreak did not extend to other sections of the market.
