National Kids Cup Competition: Anambra Commences Grassroot Sports Development

Grassroot Sports Development is one of the cardinal goals of the chief willie Obiano Administration. Hence, the government is making concerted efforts towards discovering talented children and youths in our Schools and communities in Anambra State.

Anambra State Government is collaborating with Channels Inc LTD for the 2016 Channels National Kids Cup Competition, in this drive to catch them young.

The competition, is to be organized on Zonal basis using the 6 Educational Zones in the State, namely, Awka, Aguata, Nnewi, Ogidi, Onitsha and Otuocha. This competition is for pupils in the primary schools in Anambra State who are under 13 years. Practice is ongoing by different teams in their various zones.

In view of this, the competition has been scheduled to hold as follows:
Local Govt. Competition         -           5th - 7th May
Zonal Competition                 -           9th - 13th May
State Finals                              -           16th-17th May

Training/Preparation of state contingent      -           20th May
Departure to Lagos                                                     -           20th May.

The venue for the State finals is St Mary's Secondary School, Ifitedunu.

The Ministry of Youth Entrepreneurship and Sports Development (MYESD) and the Ministry of Education under the Chief Willie Obiano Administration are poised to bring out the best in the children of Ndi Anambra; that they may shine out as the Light of the Nation.
