TREE PLANTING: Nigerians URGE TO IMBIBE TREE PLANTING HABIT TO HALT EROSION


Nigerians have been urged to cultivate a habit of regular planting and nurturing of trees as a measure to combat erosion that has wrecked untold havoc to the environment.
Stakeholders say this measure is in compliance with the advocacy for the actualization of the Sustainable development goals SDGs, a veritable framework instituted to help in protection of earth from ozone layer depletion.

The concept of tree planting was first conceptualized in world economic summit 2003 in Germany, at the discovery of greater earth crust depleting, due to daily danger  faced by the planet with tree felling, carbon monoxide exhale as well as undue observance to the attitude of man capable of destroying the earth.
Stakeholders however called on the people to cultivate the habit of tree planting, and as well challenged corporate organizations to see the exercise as a task set out to save mother earth from the danger inherent adversity.
With the rising demand for diversification of Nigerian economy, the people are advocating that tree planting would be an alternative to wealth creation where economic tree planting would be encourage by all and sundry.
Earlier in the year, Anambra state government had embarked on the programme to plant five million economic trees across the three senatorial zones of the state, an idea geared towards arresting erosion menace in the state, as well as creating alternative source of revenue to the people and state government .
Anambra state has challenge other corporate organization and well meaning individuals to ensure rugular tree planting to save planet earth from disaster associated with erosion and landsides.
