Anambra: INEC drills 120 officers on polls mgt


TO ensure credible polls, the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has trained 120 Assistant Electoral Officers, AEOs; Electoral Officers, EOs; and other field staff on Election Management System, EMS. The two-day training, which is part of the Commission’s preparations for the November 18 governorship election in Anambra State ended, yesterday. Ibeanu, said the training was geared towards enabling INEC articulate its plans for the overall success of the election, adding that the commission would leave no stone unturned to give people of Anambra and Nigeria a credible election. He explained that the EOs and AEOs were critical in the success of the poll, adding that such essential areas as project plans, field data management and implementation, as well as ability to get the right feedback, were areas of emphasis for the trainees. According to him, some of the systems used in the past in the conduct of elections were being modified to achieve greater efficiency. He urged the officers to take the exercise serious in line with innovations being introduced by INEC in conducting elections. INEC Resident Electoral Commissioner, REC, for Anambra State, Dr. Nwachukwu Orji, said that the commission was doing everything possible to ensure a hitch-free poll in the state.
