2 killed, as IPOB sit-at-home order goes bloody in Nnewi

Two middle aged men were shot dead by soldiers in the early hours Monday at Nnewi, the industrial hub of Anambra state.


According to eye witness account, the two were shot during an altercation with some soldiers patrolling the city to ensure no one was molested for not obeying the sit-at-home order by the Nnamdi Kanu-led Indigenous People of Biafra(IPOB).

There was palpable tension in Isuaniocha community in Awka North local government area of Anambra state as some hoodlums armed with guns, machetes and other dangerous weapons attacked the community on Monday, August 9, 2021, injuring people and destroying property worth millions of naira.

Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, have seized a total of 8,268.2311kilograms of assorted illicit drugs including cocaine, heroin, tramadol, methamphetamine and skunk among others in a weeklong coordinated raids across seven states, namely; Ondo, Akwa Ibom, Adamawa, Enugu, Bauchi Edo and Anambra.
