Chief Kassim Afegbua, Former Edo State’s Commissioner for Information, has claimed that senior military personnel told him the current wave of insêçurity in Nîgeria is politically motivated to damage President Bola Tinubu’s prospects for re-election in December 2027.
During a TVC interview, Afegbua recounted conversations with top-ranking government and military officials.
According to him, these officials confirmed that the attacks are primarily politically driven, designed to humiliate the president, undermine his administration, and demonstrate that he is not fully in control. Despite this, Afegbua commended the president for his quick reaction to the crîsis.
He also raised concerns about kidnappers escaping unscathed following rescue operations, questioning why bandits remain free even when their locations are known.
Criticizing the apparent unwillingness to confront them, Afegbua urged prompt and decisive military action against the offenders.
He added that this inaction has heightened public demands for U.S. assistance in tackling the country’s growing security problems.
