The Nobel laureate, Prof. Wole Soyinka, has described former President Olusegun Obasanjo as an overgrown child of circumstance.
Soyinka sharply criticised Obasanjo in his (Nobel laureate’s) new book, titled InterInventions: Between Defective Memory and the Public Lie – A Personal Odyssey in the Republic of Liars, presented in Abeokuta, Ogun State on Saturday.

Biafran Supporters Tear Nigeria Passport


Some Biafra secessionists have torn their Nigerian passports to press home their demand for the breakaway of the South-East from the Nigerian state. Pro-Biafra activists tear Nigerian passports.
As of Saturday, no fewer than three videos were seen on the online video sharing platform, YouTube, in which some Igbo denounced their citizenship of the country and declared their allegiance to Biafra.
The Nigeria Immigration Service has, however, warned that such act is criminal and attracts a jail term.

 Delivering its judgment at the Election Tribunal in Abuja, the tribunal in its wisdom held that the state election was marred with irregularities in some local government areas  where elections held and concluded that there were no substantial evidence to declare the respondents winner in the said election.

Be Calm, I Am Sure I Will Get Victory At Appeal Court, Wike Tells Rivers People


Embattled Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, has declared that he remains the governor of the oil-rich state, despite the conspiracy of the ruling party and the election tribunal in Abuja.
Governor Wike made the declaration today, while addresing a crowd of party supporters at the Port Harcourt International Airport, Omagwa.
The governor who was accompanied by his deputy, Ipalibo Banigo, and other high ranking party officials of the Peoples Democratic Party, said his legal training did not allow him criticize the ruling of a judge, saying that the verdict given by the tribunal was not God’s ruling.
“By my training I am not supposed to criticize any Judge for his opinions, but I have to say that the tribunal has given its verdict, but we know by the special grace of God, it is not God’s verdict,” he said.

Maureen O'Hara, spirited movie star, dies at 95

 
Veteran Actress, Maureen O'Hara, the flame-haired Irish movie star who appeared in classics ranging from the grim "How Green Was My Valley" to the uplifting "Miracle on 34th Street" and bantered unforgettably with John Wayne in several films has died. She was 95.

O'Hara died in her sleep at her home in Boise, Idaho, said Johnny Nicoletti, her longtime manager.
"She passed peacefully surrounded by her loving family as they celebrated her life listening to music from her favorite movie, 'The Quiet Man,'" said a statement from her family.
