Government’s effort to broker peace between the Anglican Communion and the Nkwelle Ezunaka Community is yielding desirable result as the fact finding panel set up by Chief Willie Obiano, submitted their report on Wednesday (yesterday).
The panel has Anambra State Deputy Governor, Dr Nkem Okeke as its Chairman. Other members are; Chief of Staff to the Governor, Prof Joe Asika, Barr Azuka Enemuo (Commissoner for Local Government), Prof Kate Omenugha (Commissioner for Education), Barr Stella Onuoha (Commissioner for Lands}, Barr Chuma Mbonu (Commissioner for Transport) and Chief Tony Onyima (Commissioner for Information and Culture)The investigative panel was constituted by Gov Obiano on August 19th to investigate the lingering dispute between the Anglican Communion and the Nkwelle Ezunaka Community and recommend ways to achieve a lasting solution. The face-off between Community and the Anglican Communion led to midnight demolition of a school building being used by the Anglican Faithful for church services, by unknown persons.
To forestall violent clashes, Governor Obiano had visited the aggrieved persons, called for calm from both warring parties and set up an investigative panel to recommend very effective ways to resolve the crisis. After many productive meetings and deliberations, the panel submitted their findings to the governor today (being yesterday), at the Governor’s Lodge, Amawbia.
Receiving the report, Obiano promised to ensure fairness and prompt implementation of the recommendations of the panel.
