Update: Police Account on Kano Bombing

A suspected car bomb ripped through a crowded entertainment spot in the north Nigerian city of Kano on Sunday, witnesses said.
Also at least 40 villagers were killed and several others injured on Saturday evening in Dalwa-Masuba village of Damboa local of Borno state in northeast Nigerian, security sources and witnesses said.
Four people were killed, including a young girl, in the suicide car bomb attack, the Kano State  police commissioner said.

Okada rider docked for pushing lady into boiling palm oil

A commercial motorcyclist, Friday Samuel, 21, on Monday appeared before an Ogudu Chief Magistrates’ Court in Lagos for allegedly pushing a lady into boiling palm oil.
Samuel, who lives at 9, Akeem Street, Mile 12, Ketu, Lagos, is facing a two-count charge bordering on assault.
He pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The prosecutor, Corporal Uche Simon, told the court that the accused committed the offence on May 11 at 29, Akeem Street, Mile 12, Lagos.

BOKO Haram, the terrorist group that abducted over 200 schoolgirls in Chibok, Borno State, may have abandoned its prisoner swap for Chibok girls position, as it plans to begin the release of the girls from next week.
According to Telegraph, a United Kingdom (UK) newspaper, it was claimed that the sect was willing to conduct a “gradual” release of its hostages, in return for the release of Boko Haram prisoners in Nigerian jails.

Former Military President, Gen. Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida, IBB, has cautioned politicians not to throw Nigeria into chaos as they embark on their campaigns for the 2015 general elections.
IBB noted that the way political officeholders and seekers were overheating the polity showed that the country may plunge into anarchy if nothing was done.

Another 40 Killed As Boko Haram Invades A Village In Borno

At least 40 villagers were killed and several others injured on Saturday as gunmen believed to be Boko Haram members attacked Dalwa-Masuba Village in Damboa Local Government Area of Borno State, security sources and a witness said.
The gunmen who stormed the village in large numbers also burnt down virtually all buildings in the village as well as three pickup vans carrying woods to Damboa.

A former Ogun State governor, Gbenga Daniel, on Saturday formally dumped Nigeria’s ruling Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, to join the Labour Party.
Mr. Daniel said his new party will displace the present All Progressives Congress, APC, administration in Ogun come 2015.
The former governor spoke when he appeared at the commissioning of the state headquarters of the Labour Party, located at Onikolobo area of Abeokuta, where he publicly addressed his loyalists and party supporters.
