EKITI 2014: POLICE DEPLOY TROOPS, HELICOPTERS •NSCDC BOSS BRIEFS PERSONNEL


As the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) prepares to conduct Ekiti State governorship election on Saturday, the Nigeria Police, have deployed troops to maintain security in the state.
Speaking before the departure of the policemen, the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Mohammed Abubakar, said the police were also deploying three helicopters for surveillance in the three senatorial districts in the state.

The controversy over the national convention of the All Progressives Alliance (APC) lingered yesterday as a chieftain of the party and former foreign affairs minister, Chief Tom Ikimi, explained why he boycotted the convention held in Abuja, on Friday.

THERE was outrage yesterday over the discovery of bombs that were planted in the Living Faith Church, popularly called the Winners’ Chapel, in Owerri, the Imo State capital. The Movement for Actualisation of the Sovereign State of Biafra warnied terrorists to stay off the Southeast and threatened to “bring down” Nigeria should any part of the Southeast be bombed.
Six suspects are being held for the explosives. The motive of the planned bombing and its planners remain unknown.

FIRST LADY FOR ANOTHER MEDICAL CHECK-UP IN GERMANY


First Lady, Dame Patience Jonathan, may have travelled to Germany for a fresh medical check-up.
According to a competent source, Mrs. Jonathan may have gone to Germany where she is expected to undergo medical examination at St Joseph Hospital, Wiesbadan.
Although details of the expected medical examinations were not clear is at press time, a source revealed that it is a follow-up to the series of operations the First Lady had in 2013.
