I found nothing after probing Buhari’s PTF – Obasanjo

Former President Olusegun Obasanjo
Former President Olusegun Obasanjo on Tuesday said his administration probed the accounts of the Petroleum Trust Fund headed by the All Progressives Congress presidential candidate, Maj. Gen. Muhammadu Buhari (retd.) and found nothing unpleasant.
Buhari headed the PTF, inaugurated in March 1995, under the regime of the late dictator, Gen. Sani Abacha. The PTF was established to manage the fund accruable from the increase in the pump price of Premium Motor Spirit, otherwise know as petrol, from N3.25 to N11.
The PTF was scrapped by Obasanjo on assumption of the Presidency in 1999. The ex-President also set up a committee to investigate the accounts of the PTF following allegations of N25bn fraud in the agency.
Obasanjo’s fresh revelation was made in Ogun State when Buhari and other national leaders of the APC visited the ex-President at his Hilltop residence in Abeokuta.

Humanity Against The Narcissists Of Death By Wole Soyinka

Our predicament is universal, and this is what we have stressed from the very beginning. The nature of religious zeal that would routinely maim, kill, or enslave the object of its proselytizing  – that sometime euphemism for brainwashing – rather than let it thrive and contribute to  humanity from within his or her limitations and uncertainties, from within its questions or skepticism, a mental cast that equates the mere absence of exhibitionist ardour or rigid conformism with impiety and apostasy, punishable by death or mutilation, is no different, in effect, from the tyrannical temper of the political dictator of any age.

FRESH CRISIS HITS PDP • Suit seeks to stop Jonathan from contesting

A fresh lawsuit challenging the illegibility of President Goodluck Jonathan to contest the February 14 presidential election has been filed at the registry of the Abuja division of the Federal High Court. In the suit, the plaintiff, Nkemjika Nkemjika, is asking the court to declare that the ruling Peoples Democratic Party [PDP] has no candidate for the election.
The plaintiff, in the suit filed on December 29, argued that while the tenure of office of the late Alhaji Umaru Musa Yar’ Adua as president ended the day he died on May 5, 2010, the first term tenure of office the Vice President who replaced him as President, ended on May 29, 2011.
In his originating summons filed by his counsel, Chris Ugwuala, the plaintiff said the second term of office of President Jonathan will end on May 29, 2015 because section 135[2][b]of the Constitution that enabled him to replace Yar’ Adua as President on May 6, 2010, did not make any provision for a vice president to complete the unexpired tenure of office or unexpired term of office of a deceased President.

Ijaw Youths Vs MEND: Insanity Of Self -Deceit By Ifeanyi Izeze

No other way to describe the convocation of self-acclaimed ex-militant generals Wednesday 7 January 2015 in Yenagoa to decry the Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger Delta (MEND’s) endorsement of the All Progressive Congress (APC) flag-bearer in the forthcoming February 14 presidential election, Muhammadu Buhari, but to say it smacked all attributes of collective inanity -bundled lack of common sense.

What the so called ex-militant generals said in Yenagoa was it not as unintelligent as the allegations by a section of the country that President Goodluck Jonathan and his Niger Delta people are responsible for the spate of Boko Haram attacks in the north particularly the north-east? What has happened to our sense of reasoning? You have a problem in your bedroom with your wife and children and instead of facing the issues as they are, you are busy blaming every neighbour but yourself and your family members for your woes. Armed Forces Remembrance Day : Bishop Ezeokafor Eulogises Fallen Heroes and Heroines

IMG-20150112-WA0003
The Catholic Bishop of Awka Diocese His Lordship, Most Rev. Paulinus Ezeokafor has called on Nigerians not to pursue vendetta over their relatives who were slaughtered during the World wars, the Nigerian civil war, the peace missions to Congo, Dafur, especially the Ndi Igbo, who lost their lives and property during the Nigerian- Biafran war and the various riots and insurgencies in Nigeria – the maitetesine of the 80s and currently the Boko Haram

Earlier in his homily during the Ecumenical service to mark this year’s Armed Forces Remembrance Day, entitled, “The Duty to Remember”, Bishop Ezeokafor, urged the Igbo to trust in God in spite of the circumstances surrounding their lives, and admonished them to always allow God to be at the center of their lives

He sighted Job’s confidence in the goodness of God in spite of the hard times he was experiencing as an indication that God could sometimes test the faith of His children by allowing them to suffer certain misfortunes.

Stella Oduah, Kicked Out Of Anambra North Senatorial Contest

Former aviation minister sacked in February 2014 for purchasing two BMW cars at a highly-inflated price has failed to make the list of People’s Democratic Party senatorial candidates, the list released on Tuesday by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) shows.
Ms. Oduah, after failing to capture the Anambra North Senatorial seat, had used Pius Anyim, the Secretary to the Federal Government, to intimidate INEC to get her name into the list.  That plan failed, as INEC released the name of John Okechuckwu Emeka as the court-ordered candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) for the seat.
Also removed from the list is Andy Uba, a former domestic aide to President Olusegun Obasanjo.  He was replaced with his equally controversial younger brother, Chris Uba as the PDP candidate for Anambra South in the forthcoming general election.  Chris Uba, it would be recalled, confessed to having rigged the 2003 gubernatorial election in the state, in favour of Chris Ngige.

TOMPOLO, EX-MEND COMMANDERS HOLD SECRET MEETING IN ASABA

EX-MILITANT leader, Chief Government Ekpemupolo, alias Tompolo, held a meeting, yesterday, in Asaba, Delta State, with former top commanders of the defunct Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger Delta, MEND, from Bayelsa, Delta and Rivers states.
A dependable source, said: “The meeting was convened by Tompolo to deliberate with his former colleagues on next month’s presidential election as it affects President Goodluck Jonathan, who is an Ijaw indigene.
“They also reviewed the support of the nonoperational MEND for the All Progressives Congress, APC, presidential candidate, Gen. Muhammadu Buhari (retd), and agreed on ways to mobilise ex-agitators in the region for the PDP presidential candidate.”

PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATE I WILL VOTE FOR – IBB

At his Minna home last week, former military president, General Ibrahim Babangida, looked unruffled in his blue caftan when Daily Sun walked into his office.
He didn’t look ready for a word for the press, but at last, he spoke on issue of interest to the nation, especially on next month’s elections.
In the course of the discussion, the former leader noted that he is watching the presidential candidates and would vote according to his conviction because his target is more on what the candidate has for the nation. He said any of the two major contenders that convinces him with his programmes would win his vote, but stands on his membership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
His advice for Nigerians for the forthcoming elections was simple: “don’t get violent,” even as he used the interview to reiterate his old belief in a two-party democracy for Nigeria.
But the current war of words and vituperations by former President Obasanjo against President Goodluck Jonathan is what IBB frowned at and said it’s a most inappropriate way he should correct the incumbent on national issues.

President Jonathan And Buhari Spend Night In ABEOKUTA

With the fierce contest for the presidency well underway, the two main contestants for the office – President Goodluck Jonathan of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Major-General Muhammadu Buhari – both berthed in Abeokuta on Monday in their quest to woo voters to their side.
Jonathan, who arrived Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital, after a rally in Ibadan earlier in the day, last night met with former President Olusegun Obasanjo, with Pastors Enoch Adeboye of the Redeemed Christian Church of God and David Oyedepo, Bishop of the Living Church Worldwide (also known as Winners’ Chapel) in attendance, Ashiwaju.org was reliably informed.
Although details of the meeting were sketchy, presidency sources said Jonathan had met the former president, with whom he has had a thorny relationship, to solicit his support as the elections loom.
Buhari, on the other hand, arrived Abeokuta just before 10 pm to spend the night ahead of the APC presidential campaign rally in the town today.
