GRANT PRESIDENTIAL PARDON TO IBORI, IJAW GROUP URGES JONATHAN

AN Ijaw group, the Ijaw People’s Development Initiative, IPDI, in Delta State, weekend, called on President Godluck Jonathan to grant presidential pardon to the former governor of the state, Chief James Ibori, before his exit from Aso Villa, next month.
National President the group, Mr. Austin Ozobo, in interactive with newsmen, said: “Chief Ibori has suffered enough and there is no justification for not granting him clemency, as had been done to others.”
Ozobo said Ibori was not the only corrupt leader in the country, but unfortunately, he has undergone indescribable hardship more than others.
“Ibori should be freed. Hundreds of persons, who looted heavily from government coffers are walking freely in the streets. The continuous incarceration of one corrupt man among a million other corrupt citizens cannot change the menace of high level corruption in the country.
‘’Ibori’s imprisonment could be seen as a witch-hunt and such is highly barbaric and provocative and the Nigerian government must quickly do something about his matter. ‘’Despite the ordeals Ibori is passing through, Deltans hold him in high esteem and his great achievements while in office cannot be discountenanceded.

XMas Bonus Almost Tear UNIZIK Staff Union Apart

The hullabaloo surrounding the recently shared productivity bonus, popularly known as “Christmas Bonus” would likely tear the peaceful relationship existing among the staffers of the Nnamdi Azikiwe University, (NAU), Awka, Anambra State, if not quickly addressed.

Although now four months old, it was gathered that lecturers and non-teaching staff who were allegedly discriminated while distributing the largesse last year are yet saddened and full of heavy heart against the university management, but preferred to fight back in trenches to avoid further victimization.

The genesis of the annual free gifts, according to our investigation, is Prof. Ilochi Okafor, who was the university Vice Chancellor between 2003 to 2008, and continued till the end of Prof. Boniface Egboka’s dispensation, who handed over the mantle of leadership to the incumbent VC, Prof. Joseph Ahaneku last year.

TARABA RE-RUN: TY DANJUMA BRIBES INEC WITH N2BN – APC

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Taraba state has accused former minister of Defence, Theophilus Yakubu Danjuma of bribing Independent National Electoral Commission not to declare Aishatu Jummai-Alhassan, the governorship candidate of APC winner of the guber polls in the state.
It would be recalled that a source had earlier told PM News on 12 April that the Peoples Democratic Party was delaying results from Southern Taraba in a bid to rig the election. As a reult of the delay, INEC said the election was inconclusive and the polls was rescheduled to hold on 18 April.
With the official results yet to be released, the youth leader of Alhassan’s campaign, Bala Abubakar Maina has claimed that INEC officials in the state has collected Two billion naira to tweak the results in favour of Peoples Democracy Party, PDP.

'I STILL INSIST THAT BUHARI HAS NO WASCE CERTIFICATE' - DOYIN OKUPE

These are very interesting times in our nation. An election has come and gone. A victor has emerged and the loser has conceded. Yet some of our folks are behaving as if we have just gone through a war between two hostile nations. APC agents all over the place are unrelenting in their tirades of abuses, insults and lies against President Jonathan, his aides and supporters.
It is shameful that we are still saddled with denying falsehood & fabrications in the social media and even hither to highly respected Newspapers. Missing $20b found in an account in zenith. PGEJ returns tons of dollars to federation accounts. N2trillion spent on elections by PGEJ. Okupe says chibok girls will not be found.
How many lies, deliberate falsehood and evil propaganda, outright curses and attacks must we suffer just because we lost an election in which we were never disgraced.
Buhari polled 15m(56%) while Jonathan scored 12m (46%)
Those who talk to us disparagingly should respect the sentiments of the 12 million who voted for Jonathan.

\US Requests For Drug Baron Senator-Elect Kashamu’s Extradition

The government of the United States of America has begun fresh moves to extradite Senator-elect, Buruji Kashamu to face drug trafficking charges, which he has been evading for several years now.
This was revealed by his lawyer, Mr. Ajibola Oluyede, in a petition to the National Human Rights Commission, NHRC.
In the petition, Oluyede also accused former president, Olusegun Obasanjo, of being behind the plot to extradite Kashamu.
According to Oluyede, “Kashamu’s enquiry revealed that indeed there had been moves by US officials within the region to secure the assistance of the head of the INTERPOL division in Nigeria, Mr. Solomon Arase, a Deputy Inspector General of Police, for the arrest and delivery to the US officials of Kashamu for transportation to the US without following the due process required by the Nigeria Extradition Act.

Norway Set To shut down FM radio in 2017 To Give Way To Online Radio Service

radio, norway, shutdown, fm radio, digital audio broadcast, dab
Norway has decided that it's time to shut down FM radio, flagging the beginning of 2017 as the time the country will fully transition to Digital Audio Broadcast (DAB) as the standard for over-the-air audio transmissions.
The Norwegian Ministry of Culture first proposed switching off FM radio in 2011, but it's taken four years for the idea to be approved. The government believes that they have all the necessary tools to smoothly transition away from FM radio, and when they do so in 2017, they will be the first country to switch off broadcasts in the FM portion of the VHF radio spectrum.
The country has a number of reasons for switching off FM radio. Firstly, the audio quality that can be achieved through DAB is much higher than FM, and DAB comes with additional functionality not possible through FM. The cost of transmitting a channel over FM is also around eight times higher than over DAB, according to the Norwegian government.
