Aregbesola, Fayemi get second-term tickets

Aregbesola, Fayemi
The Ekiti State Governor, Dr. Kayode Fayemi and his counterpart in Osun State, Mr. Rauf Aregbesola, were on Saturday endorsed as the governorship candidates of the All Progressives Congress in the two states in the forthcoming elections.
The emergence of the Fayemi and Aregbesola was preceded by congresses held before the governors who had no contestants were endorsed as the flag bearers of their states in the governorship elections.
The Nasir el-Rufai-led committee supervised the primary election in Osun State where Aregbesola was endorsed.
While giving the governor the certificate of return, he said 269,631 members of the party voted Aregbesola for a second term out 355,390 members who registered in 332 wards across the state.
Aregbesola got the APC governorship ticket a week after Senator Iyiola Omisore won the primary election of  the Peoples Democratic Party in Osun State.
With this development, Aregbesola will contest against the governorship candidates of other political parties in the election, which will hold on August 9.

My twins are better players than me — Amokachi

Daniel Amokachi
Super Eagles assistant coach and former Everton forward, Daniel Amokachi, tells media podcast that he joined the Toffees because of their famed rivalry with Liverpool ashiwaju.org. monitored the interview
You signed for Everton in 1994 after a fantastic effort at the 1994 World Cup in the USA . How long did it take Everton to make contact after the World Cup? Or was there interest before the World Cup?
My first option was Juventus, but when it came to money, my club then, FC Bruges, was asking for a bit more. Juventus pulled back and a few hours later, my manager called me and mentioned Everton. So I thought, if a Premiership club comes before Juventus, that would be my first choice. After growing up in Nigeria, and following the FA Cup, seeing what Liverpool had done in world football, I thought it would be nice to play for a rival team to Liverpool.

Facebook marriages may not last — Adeboye

Pastor E Adeboye
The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Pastor Enoch Adeboye, on Saturday said marriages contracted through social media may not last.
He said, “If you marry the modern way like on Facebook, you may likely divorce the modern way. Marry traditionally and involve God.”
Adeboye gave the warning in a sermon he preached on at the wedding of President Goodluck Jonathan’s foster daughter, Faith, and her husband, Godswill, in Abuja.
Adeboye also stated that the success or failure of any marriage rests on the husband who is the head and therefore advised the groom to ensure that the marriage succeeded.
He urged him not to criticise his wife but correct her in love.
The clergyman also urged mothers-in-law to avoid interfering in the life of the new couple.
Meanwhile, the wedding reunited the President with former President Olusegun Obasanjo and Governor Rotimi Amaechi of Rivers State.
