No matter how the story of the Nigerian music industry is told, singer, Bisade Ologunde, aka Lagbaja, will surely be given a honourable mention. While most artistes are eager to stamp their face in the consciousness of the public, Lagbaja entered the scene determined to shield his identity.
Fondly called the ‘masked one’, Lagbaja enthralled the populace with his anonymousness and thought-provoking music. He called his brand of music Africano which is a combination of afro jazz, afrobeat, afropop and highlife. Some of his hit songs included Ikira, Lagbaja, Konko Below, Feyin e, Nothing for You, Never Far Away, among others.

Eko Theatre Carnival takes centre stage

The Eko Theatre Carnival commenced on Sunday at the Nike Art Gallery in Lekki, Lagos, with a political performance by Segun Adefila’s Crown Troupe.
During the opening ceremony, Adefila, who donned a masquerader’s outfit alongside his troupe, delivered a spoken word performance infused with dance to depict the state of the nation. It was well received by both the international and indigenous audiences present.
The performance told the tale of insecurity, oppression, economic meltdown in the country, drawing the attention of the elite to the pending situations.

Veteran film-maker, Mike Bamiloye, has warned men to look beyond physical beauty when searching for a potential bride.
In a telephone interview with our correspondent, the evangelist gave the advice to people desirous of a successful marriage.
He said, “Men who want to get married, who desire to have the right lady, must not depend upon beauty because there are a lot of packaged beauties these days among ladies. You can’t trust the hair they have on, nor how beautiful they appear because it may have been packaged with makeup. Men should rather be patient and seek a woman that fears God.”

D’Banj returns to social media, says ‘past few weeks have been incredibly difficult’

 Singer, Daniel Oyebanjo, popularly known as D’Banj has returned to social media, after several weeks of absence, following the death of his son, 13-month-old son Daniel Jr.
On his Instagram page, D’Banj on Thursday shared a sombre photo of himself, revealing that the past few weeks have been a difficult one for his family.
He went on to thank his team and fans for their love.

Hot water challenge: 10-year-old boy lands in hospital from injuries

 

A 10-year-old boy, Ashton Taylor, has landed in the hospital after he got injured in a viral challenge, called the Hot Water Challenge.
Ashton suffered second-degree burns on his stomach, legs, arm and fingers,  reports WSAV3.
He had been on the receiving end of the challenge at a sleepover when he woke up screaming after he said a 9-year-old boy poured boiling water on his chest and legs.
 “I was screaming and they put me in another bed and I tried to calm down but I couldn’t because the pain was just on fire,” Ashton recalled.
