GOVERNMENT SHOULD LEARN FROM JUNE 12 ELECTION – IBB

As Nigerians remembered the June 12 election that was annulled in 1993 yesterday, Former Military President of Nigeria, General Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida, said the present government in Nigeria should learn from the conduct of the election for free and fair elections in 2015
The former Nigeria leader, who was speaking exclusively yesterday to LEADERSHIP at his hill-top House in Minna on the heel of the celebration of June 12 by some south-western states and the characterisation of the election as freest and fairest in Nigeria, however said he took full responsibility of the annulment that spoilt the show.
He said that his government was able to conduct the election considered to be the freest and fairest because there was “Commitment to the votes of the country, commitment to the well-being of the country and commitment to everything that is good for this country and that is the number one attitude I think we did the best we can or we could at that time to carry along everybody by educating everybody to do their civic responsibility, they have to be part of it, their vote will count and all that before going into the election. I think they have been motivated to play their duty to this country”
