Former Abia State Governor Orji Kalu dissociates Self From Rumoured Presidential Ambition

Former governor of Abia State and founding member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Dr. Orji Kalu, has dissociated himself from potential posters linking him to presidential candidacy in the 2015 elections. The ludicrous and reprehensible campaign instruments purporting Kalu’s candidature for the plum position are almost ready for circulation nationwide, according to the grapevine. In a statement issued by his media advisor, Mr. Ebere Wabara, Kalu debunked and dismissed such brainwave electioneering materials as the handiwork of mischief makers, who are committed to causing disaffection between President Goodluck Jonathan and his good self, pointing out that this would not be the first time such seeds of discord would be sown by his vanishing clan of detractors.

The statement read in part: “The posters depict him severally in continental and the three major different ethnic attires with a catchphrase that reads ‘Orji Kalu for President’ and declares that ‘it is the turn of Igbo to rule this country.’ Kalu had at no time indicated interest in the 2015 presidential election. His manifest and massive support for President Jonathan is unequivocal and unalloyed. The president and other well-meaning Nigerians know this.“President Jonathan has performed creditably and consequently, earned his party’s exclusive nomination to contest the forthcoming presidential poll. So, for any jester to wake up at this stage and insinuate interest by an incontrovertible party loyalist like Kalu, is sheer dementia.“It is clear to most PDP members and a majority of Nigerians that President Jonathan has carried on excellently with the revolutionary transformation of this country and deserves to be our party’s standard bearer. In any case, Kalu’s robust support for President Jonathan’s re-election has been unflinching and unreserved. “Almost on a daily basis in local and international arenas, Kalu roots for another chance for President Jonathan to consolidate his re-engineering of the country. Therefore, how can he now in the same breath, be printing unrealistic and illogical posters?”Wabara pointed out that not long ago, this same band of anarchists flooded Abia State with multifarious posters and handbills announcing Kalu’s senatorial candidacy on the platform of the Progressive Peoples Alliance (PPA). “When this childish ploy failed, they resorted to the current printing of uncultured posters which claim Kalu’s rabid insistence on Igbo presidency and his passion for it.“We know the circus actors behind these malicious, wicked and irresponsible acts. They have reached their wits’ end. Having exhausted their bags of tricks, deceits and propaganda, the last option now is to futilely pit Kalu against President Jonathan in the ultimate fiasco. Nigerians should disregard such boyish idiocies, clownish stupidities and kindergarten brazenness by imbecilic elements, who thrive in cheap blackmail, mud-slinging and character assassination.“Let it be clear to everyone, especially the tribe of political spoilers, that Kalu is an ardent and unstoppable backer of President Jonathan in all ramifications. Oppositional deviancy cannot vitiate their mutual and cordial relationship, just as no amount of diabolism can weaken Kalu’s convictions about President Jonathan and his inalienable belief in him,” Wabara declared.Kalu, who used this intervention to further explicate his irrevocable faithfulness to the party’s hierarchy, implored members of the PDP to resolutely respect the party’s choice and not drop names in expression of any inconsequential reservation. He stressed: “President Jonathan’s second presidential victory is a forgone conclusion as we await his inauguration. No theatrical calumniation of Kalu or fanning the embers of disunity can halt the victory train. Instead of wasting public resources on dubious, deceitful and smear posters, such funds should be used for good governance.”
