Flying Eagles to begin camping for 2015 AYC finals on Monday

TOO OLD FOR EAGLES? — Flying Eagles.
The camp of the national under-20 male football team, the Flying Eagles, will be opened on Monday ahead of the 19th African Youth Championship (AYC) taking place in Senegal.
This is contained in a statement by the Assistant Director (Communications), Nigeria Football Association (NFA), Ademola Olajire, on Thursday in Abuja.
“The national under-20 team will resume camping for a screening exercise, ahead of the 19th AYC taking place in Senegal.

“The AYC has been scheduled to hold from March 8 to March 22,’’ it said.
The  Flying Eagles qualified after beating Tanzania 6-1 on aggregate in the second round of the AYC qualifiers after drawing bye.
Nigeria then gained automatic qualification in the third round to the AYC finals after Lesotho withdrew from the last round of the qualifiers.
According to the statement, the national under-17 team, the Golden Eaglets, will also resume camping on Dec. 14 ahead of the African U-17 Championship holding in Niger Republic.
“ Ahead of the 11th African U-17 Championship taking place in Niger Republic for which they have qualified, the Golden Eaglets will resume camping in Abuja on Dec. 14.
“The championship has been scheduled to hold from Feb. 15 to March 1,’’ it said.
The  Golden Eaglets thrashed DR Congo 5-1 on aggregate in the second round of the qualifiers.
They went further to beat Gabon 6-2 on aggregate in the final round of the qualifiers to book a ticket to the 11th edition of the championship.(NAN)
