It was strange but it happened at late Ojukwu’s  grave when the National chairman of All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA kicked off his senatorial campaign at the grave yard of the late Ikemba Nnewi, Chief Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu’s country home’ Nnewi, Anambra state.

Umeh at the rally gave Ojukwu’s son, Emeka Ojukwu jnr automatic ticket as APGA’s candidate for Nnewi North/ Nnewi South/Ekwusigo federal constituency in the House of Representatives.
Umeh  told the rally that with himself at the senate and Ojukwu Jnr in the house of representatives, nobody will tell our opponents that Ndigbo have arrived.
Umeh further noted that with then in the national assembly, Ojukwu’s spirit would continue to bubble in happiness and be resting in peace.
“We are going to have quality representation. We will ensure truth. Anybody who used Ojukwu’s name to win election and later derail will surely be pursued by the land of Ndigbo, adding that they would face the wrath of the gods in Igbo land.

In his speech, Ojukwu Jnr declared; “my father lived life of servitude and I will follow his foot step. I will never let you down. Some people used our platform and dropped us”.
Umeh who stormed Ojukwu’s graveyard in Nnewi with thousands of the party faithful to declare his intention to run for Senate in Anambra Central, cursed APGA defectors for allegedly using Ojukwu’s name for selfish reasons.
At Ojukwu mausoleum, Umeh said it had always been his tradition to consult the late Igbo leader while he was alive and now in spirit before taking any political decision.
Umeh said though he had got many endorsements from several groups and individuals on his senatorial ambition, it was customary that he could not run the race without the approval of the late Ikemba.
He took a swipe at those who said APGA did nothing for them in the past, pointing out that the party gave such people electoral victories because of Ojukwu’s spirit.
He warned the PDP against fielding multiple candidates for electoral positions, threatening that APGA would seek legal redress in court if the PDP dared to make such move.
