No fewer than 25 persons have reportedly been killed by suspected Fulani herdsmen in some villages in the Awe, Keana and Doma Local Government Areas of Nasarawa State.
It was learnt that the suspected Fulani herdsmen had continued killing persons sighted on roads or on their farms.
Investigation revealed that the Keana LGA recorded the highest number of deaths, followed by the Awe LGA where the herdsmen reportedly lay siege to major roads to attack their victims despite several calls for calm by the government and prominent individuals in the state.
A journalist with the Daily Times, Mr. Augustine Kuza, who went to find out the situation on the ground in Kuduku in the Keana LGA of the state, narrowly escaped death.

A former Chairman of Tiv Consultative Forum in the Keana LGA, Chief Igbasue Kuza, informed our correspondent on Tuesday in Lafia, the state capital, that about 14 persons had been killed aside those allegedly killed in Gidan Adidi by gunmen.
He stated that the killings took place in Kuduku, Iornya, Apeele and Gidan Adidi, adding that many houses were set ablaze by the marauders.
Kuza said the victims were killed on their way to their farms while others were killed on the road when they were scampering for safety.
Speaking with newsmen in Lafia, one of the Internally Displaced Persons in Awe, who gave his name simply as Orkuma, alleged that about six persons had been killed by the herdsmen in Gidan Wurji, Ampana,Taku in Azara.
It was alleged that about 300 armed herdsmen had occupied Mararaban Igbabo along the Agyaragu-Ankoma Road in the Doma LGA of the state and near Kuduku, a community in Guma LGA of Benue State, and Apeele in the Keana LGA.
But the Police Public Relations Officer of the Nasarawa State Police Command, Idirisu Kennedy, who confirmed the development on the telephone, said three persons were killed by the herdsmen, adding that scores of people were also injured.
He said, “The spill over effect we had from Keana, Obi Local Government Areas and Azaraza development area of the state right from the January 1, 2018 are three casualties apart from those that sustained varying degrees of injury during the crisis.

“One person from Awe and two other dead bodies recorded by the command on Tuesday were from the Keana Local Government Area of the state.”
