ANAMBRA HOUSING COMMISSIONER HANDS OVER RENOVATED FIRE STATION TO FIRE SERVICE

Anambra State Commissioner for Housing, Hon. Pauly Onyeka has called on Agulu community in Anaocha Local Government Area to protect the newly- renovated modern fire station in their area are protected from vandalisation.

The commissioner made the call at the official handing over ceremony of the Agulu Fire Station to the Ministry of Power and Water Resources, for onward  transfer to the Anambra State Fire Service for the benefit of state.


Represented by the Director of Building Construction and Maintenance Department, Ministry of Housing, Mr Ojeleke Samuel, the commissioner noted that the state governor, Professor Chukwuma Soludo, is very desirous of extending dividends of democracy to different parts of the people. 


He appealed to the people of Agulu to protect the facilities from theft and vandalization as government cannot afford to waste its lean resources.


Commenting on the need for perimeter fending, the commissioner urged the Ministry of Power to bring up a proposal for the work to commence immediately.



Earlier in a speech, the representative of the Commissioner of Power and Water Resources, Engr Chukwuma  Julius and the Permanent Secretary in the ministry, Mrs Ify Uzoka, appreciated Governor Soludo for his  intervention and  revitalization of the abandoned Agulu  Fire Station.


They noted that for maximum protection of those facilities, perimeter fencing should be erected to protect the fire offices and the facilities on ground.


The commissioner and the Permanent Secretary commended the neat work executed by the contractors and urged him to continue to sustain the already established security architecture by the construction company to prevent access to the facilities pending when the fence is constructed .


The Director of Anambra State Fire Service in the Ministry of Power and Water Resources, Dr Martins Agbili, appreciated the government for the intervention which led to the handover and called for collaboration between the ministry and the agency to protect the station from land grabbers. 


The Agulu Modern Fire Station has three building blocks, comprising fire truck station, office block, bore hole and plant house, constructed by Feister Technical Service Limited.
