Efforts By Saraki Becoming Acting President Foiled
The Presidency on Sunday denied the cancellation of Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo’s planned trip to India for fear that the embattled President of the Senate, Bukola Saraki, may become acting President.
An online news medium, Sahara Reporters, had reported that Osinbajo’s planned trip was cancelled when it was discovered that President Muhammadu Buhari would also be out of the country at the time.The report had insinuated that the Vice-President’s trip was called off in order to ensure that Saraki, who is the third in hierarchy in the country, did not emerge acting President in the absence of Buhari and Osinbajo.

Governor Fayose Suspends 16 teachers for child labour
Ekiti State Governor Ayodele Fayose has suspended 16 teachers at Elo High School, Ayetoro Ekiti, for allegedly using their pupils as labourers on their farms during school hours.
He has also ordered a full-scale investigation into the matter.Fayose gave the directive in Ado Ekiti while receiving the report of a team led by the Deputy Governor, Dr Kolapo Olusola, that went to the school for a preliminary investigation.
Court Orders Release of Dasuki’s Ex-Aide
A Federal Capital Territory High Court in Jabi, Abuja on Monday, ordered the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission and the Nigerian Army, to immediately release Col. Nicholas Ashinze, a former aide to the immediate past National Security Adviser, Col. Sambo Dasuki (retd.).
Justice Yusuf Halilu gave the order in his judgment in a suit filed by Ashinze for the enforcement of his fundamental human rights to personal liberty.Sunday
Court of Appeal Sentenced Nollywood Actress, Ibinabo Fiberesima To 5-year jail term
The Court of Appeal sitting in Lagos has dismissed an appeal filed by Nollywood actress Ibinabo Fiberesima challenging a jail term slammed on her by a Lagos High Court.
Ms. Ibinabo was sentenced to five years imprisonment by Justice Deborah Oluwayemi of a Lagos High Court for reckless driving which led to the death of a hospital staff.She was alleged to have driven her car recklessly on the Lekki-Epe Expressway and knocked down a man, Giwa Suraj.
