Anambra judiciary state has reiterated its call to the state government to implement the much debated about judicial autonomy to enable the arm of government perform its constitutional duty effectively without dependence on the executive.
They lamented that the state Judiciary is financially docile to the state Ministry of Justice, an act that negates relevant laws and constitutional provisions.
Expressed regret that the State Judiciary is still financially subservient to the executive, saying it was most undesirable as it clearly counteracts the relevance of the laws of separation of power among the three arms of government.

They made the call at the 2016 legal year celebration in Awka, expressed hope that the organ of government is poised to deliver on its constitutional duties, if its autonomy is granted.
Anambra state judiciary outlined among other requests expected to enable them performed their constitutional duties without interference, if the proposed judicial autonomy is achieved as part of their obligation to dispense justice to the public without dependence on any other arms of government.
They lament the poor state of the arm of government infrastructure and delay in salary and emolument payment among other things as some of the challenges being faced as well as over dependence on the executive arm to disburse of fund for it to operate .
On the move to effect speedy dispensation of justice in the state judiciary system, the stakeholders suggest a convivial working environment between the bar and the bench, expected to be complimented by the public to enhance the confidence reposed in them by the public.
They however appealed to state government to assist in effecting the return of Judiciary Capital Vote as required by Law and in the spirit of Separation of Powers as applied to the other arms of government.
