Stakeholders have charged governments to be prudent in the management of state resources as measures to rescue the country from the country economic recession.
They urged government of all tiers to cut down on their expenditures as a veritable instrument that would encourage saving for the future of the economy.
The people lamented that the nation is threading a dangerous financial path with heavy funds allocated for servicing of states functionaries at the expense of the people's growth.
The leaders disclosed this at the Inauguration of Awka Diocesan Laity, Onitsha Branch, attributed the country state of recession to inability of her leaders to cut the cost of governance.
The stakeholders said in view of the current recession and by way of necessity, governors of the 36 states of the federation must reduce their current budget which totaled about N4.1trillion by over 25 per cent,also by way of cutting down on the number of bullet proof cars, the size of their convoy and cut down on travelling expenses.Former Governor Peter Obi who however urged churches to de-emphasizes giving unnecessary honour to people aside the billycan honours, mapped out for people working in the vineyard of God.
