Former Chief Security Officer to late
Gen. Sani Abacha, Major Hamza Al-Mustapha, has withdrawn the case of
“defamation of character and spreading of wrong information on his person,”
brought against a Kaduna- based Islamic cleric, Sheikh Sanusi Khalil last month
at the Upper Sha’riah Court, Daura Road, Kaduna.
Addressing the Court yesterday,
counsel to Al-Mustapha, Garba Sadau, said the withdrawal of the suit came after
several interventions by prominent Nigerians who called on both parties to mend
their fences by following Islamic injunctions.
He said that in Islam, the court
should be the last source of justice.
“May I announce to Your Honour that
we are withdrawing our suit because we have arrived at an agreement based on
the defendant’s public retrieval of his earlier statement accusing my client of
training some snipers to kill 1000 Nigerians.
