Legislators Advocte Strick Adherance To Producrement Law By Public Servants

Anambra state house of assembly has bemoaned poor implementation process of procurement policies at the local government level, a development it insists promote leakages for impropriety in public spending.
The House of assembly committee on tenders board led by the chairman, Kenechukwu Chukwuemeka , stated this during their oversight function at Idemili North and South L.G.A, charged council officials to always abide by the procurement  rule as emphasized in the state procurement act.

The legislators urged the councils officials to institutionalize  public procurement system in their different local government  areas, which would be an imperative to curb wastage and provide value for public resources.
They warned the chairman of Idemili North, Henry Ezenwa, who hide under the guise of being new in the system to refrain from the act of assigning  duty of an internal auditor to the council's town engineer, where  transparency and accountability would reflect in the LG transactions.
Hounorable Kenechuwu encouraged the council executives to educate the financial officers of the council on the implementation and adherence to the state procurement policy which gives room for internal audit of public procurement transaction and checkmate corruption in the system.
He criticized some Local Government Chairmen who award contracts without recourse to due process, saying without good governance and accountability, no amount of oil or foreign aid can guarantee the sustainability of the state financial success.
The parliamentarians urged Ndemili South chairman, Awugosi Chigozie to educate his officials on the importance of the act and charged him to guide the  implementation of capital project in the council to be in strict compliance with the state procurement Law.
