The visit was in continuation of her routine inspection of PHCs across the state to get first-hand information on the state of the facilities. She was accompanied by Commissioner for Health,  Dr Vincent Okpalla and they were able to  hear direct from the staff and afterwards make recommendations for improvement to the government.

The PHCs visited include; Primary Health Care Centre, Ivite Aguleri and Enugwu-Aguleri, Primary Health Care Centre, Umueri Otuocha, Maternal and Child Health Clinic, Otuocha, and Primary Health Care Centre, Umundeze, Eziagulu, Aguleri, all in Anambra East Local Government Area.

Speaking after the inspection, Mrs Obiano

commended  the state government for  working tenaciously to improve the state PHCs in Anambra state and ensure that they are able to provide basic health care in line with global health targets, stressing that her primary aim for the visits was to ensure that standard is maintained.

The Governor's wife however expressed dissatisfaction at the state facilities in some of the visited PHCs, and told the Commissioner for Health, to follow up on the request for repairs to see that everything needed to correct the identified lapses is achieved within the shortest period; insisting that she will follow-up on her visit to confirm that the agreed improvements is effected.

Further more, Osodieme advised the Heads of  Departments of Health in the Local Government Areas to undertake regular inspection of the PHCs and make formal complaints on what they lack in the facilities since the State government officials might not be at all places simultaneously.

Also speaking, the Anambra State Commissioner for Health, Dr Okpala noted that the consistency of the vision to remodel grassroots health care delivery has yielded fruits, assuring that enforcement of policies to revamp not-up-to standard PHCs across Anambra State would be given urgent and timely response.

Dr Okpala also commended the governor's wife, for taking out time to see things for herself, noting that such gesture would add further verve to priority that has been accorded health care delivery in Anambra State.

Mrs Obiano plans to continue the inspection visits at other PHCs across Anambra State.
