NSCDC Sets To Auction Seized Items In Its Domain

The Director-General of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Mr Ade Abolurin, said that items seized from vandals by the organization would soon be auctioned to the public.
Abolurin made the disclosure after inspecting some items seized by the Anambra command of the organization on Thurday in Awka. The seized items included vehicles, Tankers, drilling equipment , crude to mention but a few.
He said the confiscated items including articulated vehicles conveying adulterated petroleum products, cars, drums, pumping machines, Fuel tankers among others would be sold to the public after due certification by a court of competent jurisdiction.
Abolurin, who led a Committee set up by the honourable minister of justice, to assess the items seized from vandals, said  the exercise was unconnected with the presidency drive to decongest NSCDC office nation wide of seized items that have already being pronounced upon by the law court and streghten the government determination to discourage oil theft and vandalism.
The NSCDC boss assured that the organisation will keep up to its task of preventing  vandalism of the country’s oil and gas, telecommunications and other critical infrastructures.
He urged the officers to uphold the high level of discipline and work sincerely without mortgaging their conscience.
In a remark, the Director of Public Prosecution, Federal Ministry of Justice, Mr Akinlolu Akintewi, explained that the inspection was the first step in the exercise of the committee’s mandate.
“The next step will be the involvement of auctioneers,” he said.
