SunMap Signs MoU With ABS On Malaria Prevention Advocacy

The Management of the Anambra Broadcasting Service (ABS) and Support for National Malaria Programme (SuNMaP) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding for a ten-month  commercial broadcast  partnership to educate Anambarians on Malaria related scourges.
The Duo reached the agreement at the ABS complex  Awka, where mode of awareness creation and continuous sensitization of the people was concluded as the hallmark of the deal. 
Speaking on behalf of SuNMaP, the State Technical Manager, Dr. Anthony Okoye, said the choice of ABS was informed by the station’s wide reach and years of experience in public broadcasting, community mobilization and social advocacy.
 
He expressed hope that the partnership will yield the desired result, to promoting malaria free society and keeping the citizen healthy at all times.
 
Responding, The Managing Director, Anambra Broadcasting Service, Mr. Uche Nworah pledged full compliance with the terms of the agreement, and applauded the agency's move to endorse ABS as their official flat ship in Anambra state but promised to ensure the confidence reposed in the station would not be disappointed.
 
He thanked SuNMap and DFID for partnering with the station in the fight against malaria.
 
Mr. Nworah said the discussions with SuNMap have given birth to other notable ideas spread across different areas of improve health  awareness mechanism to strengthen their mutual and beneficial relationship.
 
''The agreement is just one of the series of repositioning activities being undertaken by the new management team at ABS with a view to leveraging the stations wide reach and coverage of Anambra State''.
By the agreement, ABS will promote SuNMaP’s Jingles and also create awareness on malaria prevention and control through special programmes. and public awareness talk shows carved out to inform the public on the danger inherent and solution bid to be provided by the agency of government, and the  agreement ends in july, 2015.
Some members of the ABS staff are currently undergoing capacity building training programmes in Lagos.
